   Distinguished Alumni Cover Letter

I would like to nominate Jonathan "Jon" Johnstone as a 2020 Distinguished Alum.

A 1995 Anytown University religious studies grad, Jon discovered a passion for nonprofits and pivoted to a successful career in nonprofit management after attending the prestigious University of Anystate Masters of Public Administration program. He is now in the role of Director at Character 3000, an organization dedicated to underserved youths. Jon recently led a successful capital campaign for a standalone Drop-in Center for homeless teens, and he has also been an outspoken advocate for those who have aged out of the foster care system. In a previous role of Development Director for Kid Mentors United, Jon secured millions of dollars in grant funding for after-school programming.

Jon's dedication to at-risk youths is unmatched. He is too modest to mention this himself, but he has been presented with a variety of local and national awards, including XYZ Honor, ABC Ribbon, and Anytown Leader of the Year.

In 2019, Jon was named as a board member to Mentors Helping Mentees. He has also served on the boards of several other youth service organizations.

He was also a featured speaker at the Mentor Institute's Conference in Los Angeles titled Mitigating Risks, as well as two Constant Character Webinars on best practices for drop-in center fundraising.

In his spare time, Jon enjoys disc golf, hiking, and competitive cribbage.

While at Anytown University, Jon worked at the library and also volunteered at the K-12 Tutoring Center. He received the Religious Studies Outstanding Graduate Award.

Jon Johnstone has clearly distinguished himself in his professional life and is deserving of the honor of Distinguished Alumni.
